The travel bug found me early. In high school, I joined a trip to Italy, Spain, and France, not a packaged tour but a custom itinerary planned by my French teacher. That experience changed how I saw the world.

Fast forward to 2024, and my son set off on a school group trip to Italy, Greece, and Turkey through a large mass-market educational tour operator. The itinerary was a checklist. The experience was forgettable. That contrast is what led me to founding Via Vero Tours.

As a third-generation Italian-American, Sicilian specifically, I understand what it means to travel toward something, not just through it. Via Vero Tours curates immersive, culturally rich journeys that add genuine depth to every trip. For student groups, that means itineraries with real curricular connections, where history, literature, and art come alive in the places where they happened. For special interest and heritage groups, it means enrichment experiences aligned with your mission, your roots, and your interests. For families, it might mean tracing your ancestors back to the village they left behind, sharing a meal cooked by the people who live there now, or simply experiencing Italy in a way that stays with you long after you return home.

Rome, Florence, and Venice are extraordinary cities, but the real experience is not found standing in a crowd or passing a landmark for a photo. It is found in the moments that surprise you, the places locals actually go, and the history you can feel beneath your feet.

Do you work with individual travelers?

Yes, we are happy to advise individual travelers and couples on planning vacations or heritage tours to Italy.

What information is needed to plan a heritage tour?

We will send you a family tree form to complete. We ask that you include as much information as known, and require the name and vital details of your last ancestor who was born in Italy. From there, our historians and geneaologists will begin to research locally in your ancestral home town.

How big are your groups?

Group size varies depending on your group, but the average size is 12-18 travelers, and prefer no more than 26 total. This can vary of course, and is especially important when planning school groups.

In all group scenarios, we prefer smaller groups which allows personal attention and more immersive experiences.

What if I am a solo group traveler?

You are welcome to join one of our upcoming pre-planned groups! As a solo traveler, you have two choices for accommodation and costs vary between these options.

Room Share: This is the most economical option. You will be paired with a traveler of the same sex in a shared twin room at no extra cost.

Single Supplement: You can opt to pay a single supplement fee to guarantee a private room for the entire duration of the tour.

What are your deposit and cancellation policies?

This varies by tour and will be noted on the tour booking page. Please thoroughly review all requirements for the tour.

Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Italy is very accommodating and offers a wide variety of culinary options. Please specify your dietary restrictions when booking and we will accomodate.

What about accessibility?

Some tours are not ideal for those with mobility restrictions. Please specify your threshold of walking from site to site and preferences. We can recommend pre-planned tours that will work best for your needs, or plan a custom itinerary.
